Navigate

Hi, Please use Blog archive to fast switch between posts. As it is my first time making portfolio blog It may look odd and not professional.
I intend to learn more in future how to create creative portfolio website/blog.

Medieval Village House Update

I want to update my project time to time to make it look more beautifuler and by comparing to models
Old:
This was my fast made low poly house, simple and small. Exactly what was needed to make my Medieval Village. I intend to update all my models when im free from University and Sports. My idea is to create populated village so it could be a part of some game or the beginning of a game.

New:
I remembered how i was playing Anno 1404
and there was a peasant house, so i wanted to create something similar but not that similar

I'm trying to add more details to model, to make it look live and not boring. Im always looking for feedback from online forums, tutors, friends and etc. Always experimenting and trying to make something different from my other models.

By making this house i started using simple method with Layers to help me organize my work. Easily to understand where is where and what is it connected to.
By adding random props, it give this house a bit live view, as it is not a simple box house. Fully made low poly house.

First UE4 render

It was my First time Render video from Unreal Engine 4 and it might be a bit bad, right now im trying to re make video, with much more better angles and smoothness. But still i hope it would be nice to watch it.

My first Finished Medieval Village

Hard work and lot of time spend on creating this project. The water took lot of time making it look normal, but lack of experience made it look horrible but acceptable to use as a water. Especially it took time to create a shader for water to make it look real, Moving waves, distort and it is all simple poly plane with lot of divisions.

Trees were the hard part of it. Lack of using maya experience i spend lot of time creating perfect looking tree, lot of time spend on online tutorials, but there was really few really useful. So i went on a sneaky way, found a website that was offering free Tree assets, downloaded it. Started to research it, how it was build, what was the main part and by the knowledge i gathered i managed to create a low poly tree.

The view itself isnt really nice, i was rebuilding my environment several times as UE4 managed to crash, update and corrupt my work and it was my 5th attempt to build this landscape, it may look bad but i build it in one day, if only i had more time i could add lots and lots of details to it. But its better to hand in with something rather then nothing at all.

The house was build really fast, as i managed to loose all my work because of my laptop damage, i intended to create something small and nice. Which later went on a good result. Many of the stuff i created were raw and i never liked it until i was in a finish stage.

To all my trees i added shader called "grass wind" if i call it right. So all the leafs and branches are moving caused of a wind.

Port (First attempt)

All villages connected to water, they all need small port with boats. So it was my first attempt to create boat and docks. Planing to update them as soon as i will finish with modeling new houses and props.

Sign Post - Lantern - House Sign

House sign - originally was made for Blacksmith house, but later on i deleted my blacksmith as it was awful. However i decided to leave this sign as for future projects.
Lantern - originally made for Port and streets.

Sign post - was inspired to create a similar one from
"Kingdoms of Amalur Reckoning"

Props

 Market Stand

Cart - approximately 500 polys because of Wheels.

 Fence - low poly
Prop pack - Crate, Barrel, Wooden buckets, Cart, Sack and wooden case

Making Trees

My first tree i was trying to make, it was high poly tree and therefor i used it only for practice. I was looking for lowpoly tree to use it in my projects.
First tree took me like 200k polys.
This tree is somewhere between Highpoly and lowpoly. This tree took me 100k polys
Time after i managed to reduce branches so it would be approximately 55k instead of 100k polys.
this is how tree and branch looked like.

First time creating Environment in UE4

After playing around with Unreal Engine 4, i started to learn how to create Landscapes and how to make Vertex paint in engine. This is how it looked like:

Medieval Village houses(textured)

This was my assignment module at University creating medieval town.
This house is low poly and hand painted except roof tile and rock pavement.

Medieval Tavern

Creating a Medieval Tavern was part of my second year module. I wanted to use it in my scene with other building i managed to create.
All of the building I made were fully UV.

Medeival Village project

Time after i was looking into lot of tutorials and tried to create something special and massive to test my abilities and i decided to create a small Medieval Village. I Took lot of references wanted to model something beautiful.
